The Army Air Forces War Adjustment Course was established in 1944 at several locations in the U.S., one of which was Harvard Business School. 1st Lieutenant (1LT) Richard H. Desch entered the United States (U.S.) Army in September 1942 and received basic training at Atlantic City, New Jersey. Until 1944, he attended several service schools, including cryptograph school and intelligence schools, within the continental U.S. He served in the Philippines in 1944 and was stationed in Japan during the occupation in 1945.
